The Faculty of Political Science, Ubon Ratchathani University (UBU), led by Assistant Professor Chantha Thanawatthanawong, together with six students, will participate in the Third China-Cambodia-Thailand Track II Dialogue, taking place on 11–12 October 2026 in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province, the People’s Republic of China. The dialogue is organised by China Foreign Affairs University (CFAU).
The dialogue provides a platform for participants from China, Cambodia and Thailand to exchange perspectives on regional relations, people-to-people understanding and cooperation. As a Track II diplomatic initiative, it offers opportunities for academics, students and other stakeholders to engage in dialogue and explore ways to strengthen mutual understanding, regional cooperation and peace.
The third dialogue builds on two previous meetings held in Beijing in February and April 2026, continuing efforts to facilitate constructive exchanges and cooperation among the three countries.
A key feature of this dialogue is the inclusion of perspectives from young people in the Thai-Cambodian border areas affected by armed clashes. Their experiences, concerns and views are being gathered and considered in the development of policy recommendations. This approach seeks to ensure that discussions on peace and regional cooperation take account of the lived experiences of people directly affected by conflict, particularly young people in border communities.
For UBU students, participation in the dialogue provides a valuable opportunity to engage with international perspectives on youth development, education, sustainable development and student exchange. It also enables them to develop their communication and critical discussion skills, exchange ideas with participants from different countries, and gain first-hand experience of international dialogue and cooperation.
The Faculty’s participation reflects Ubon Ratchathani University’s commitment to international engagement, student development and the promotion of academic exchange. It also highlights the importance of connecting international relations and diplomatic dialogue with the experiences and perspectives of people in border areas, whose voices are essential to more inclusive and sustainable approaches to peacebuilding.
