Nathachanon and Thirada’s Student Exchange Experience at Ostrava University

9 May – 9 June 2025

Nathachanon Duanyai and Thirada Kulram, both students in the Government programme, are currently participating in a student exchange programme at Ostrava University in the Czech Republic from 9 May to 9 June 2025. At the very beginning of their experience, they encountered several cultural differences that have been both surprising and enriching. They are the first exchange students to take part following the recent establishment of an academic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Faculty of Political Science at Ubon Ratchathani University, Thailand, and the Faculty of Social Studies at the University of Ostrava.

The exchange is fully funded by the Faculty of Political Science at Ubon Ratchathani University, with the aim of providing students with international experience that will benefit their academic and professional development.

The programme is also offering an excellent opportunity for students from Ubon Ratchathani to gain a broader understanding of the Czech Republic, Europe, and the European Union. Such international experiences are particularly valuable for students of international relations, offering first-hand insights into European culture, governance, and cross-border cooperation.

On behalf of the Faculty, Nathachanon Duanyai and Thirada Kulram presented Thai silk to members of staff at the Faculty of Social Studies as a token of appreciation. The silk, handwoven by local artisans and naturally dyed, represents the rich cultural heritage of Ubon Ratchathani. This gesture symbolises the Faculty's gratitude for the warm welcome and support received, as well as the role played by their counterparts in facilitating the MoU. This growing partnership marks an important step in promoting academic collaboration and international exchange between Thailand and the Czech Republic.

Nathachanon Duanyai and Thirada Kulram have also been fortunate to receive generous support from Kath Khangpiboon, a PhD candidate at Ostrava University. Kath is also a lecturer at Thammasat University and a prominent LGBTQ activist in Thailand. Her guidance and presence throughout the exchange have made a meaningful difference, offering both practical assistance and personal encouragement during their time abroad.

ณฐชนน ดวนใหญ่ และ ฐิรดา กูลรัมย์ นักศึกษาหลักสูตรสาขาวิชาการปกครอง กำลังเข้าร่วมโครงการแลกเปลี่ยนนักศึกษาที่มหาวิทยาลัยออสตราวา สาธารณรัฐเช็ก ระหว่างวันที่ 9 พฤษภาคม ถึง 9 มิถุนายน 2568 ตั้งแต่วันแรกที่ไปถึงทั้งสองคนได้พบกับความแตกต่างทางวัฒนธรรมหลายประการ ซึ่งเป็นทั้งความแปลกใหม่และเป็นประสบการณ์ที่มีคุณค่า โครงการนี้นับเป็นโครงการแลกเปลี่ยนชุดแรกภายหลังจากการจัดตั้ง บันทึกข้อตกลงความร่วมมือทางวิชาการ (MoU) ระหว่างคณะรัฐศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยอุบลราชธานี ประเทศไทย และคณะสังคมศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยออสตราวา

โครงการแลกเปลี่ยนนี้ได้รับทุนสนับสนุนทั้งหมดจากคณะรัฐศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยอุบลราชธานี โดยมีเป้าหมายเพื่อเปิดโอกาสให้นักศึกษาได้สัมผัสประสบการณ์ระดับนานาชาติ ซึ่งจะเป็นประโยชน์ต่อการเรียนรู้และการพัฒนาอาชีพในอนาคต

นอกจากนี้ โครงการยังเป็นโอกาสอันดีสำหรับนักศึกษาจากมหาวิทยาลัยอุบลราชธานีในการเรียนรู้และเข้าใจประเทศสาธารณรัฐเช็ก ทวีปยุโรป และสหภาพยุโรปในภาพรวม ประสบการณ์ในต่างประเทศเช่นนี้มีคุณค่ายิ่งสำหรับนักศึกษาสาขาความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างประเทศ เพราะช่วยให้เข้าใจวัฒนธรรม การปกครอง และความร่วมมือระหว่างประเทศได้อย่างลึกซึ้ง

ในนามของคณะรัฐศาสตร์ นักศึกษาทั้งสองได้มอบ ผ้าไหมไทย ให้กับบุคลากรของคณะสังคมศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยออสตราวา เพื่อแสดงความขอบคุณ ผ้าไหมดังกล่าวทอด้วยมือโดยช่างฝีมือท้องถิ่น และย้อมด้วยสีธรรมชาติ ซึ่งสะท้อนถึงมรดกทางวัฒนธรรมอันงดงามของจังหวัดอุบลราชธานี เป็นสัญลักษณ์ของความขอบคุณต่อการต้อนรับและการสนับสนุนในการดำเนินงานเพื่อจัดตั้งความร่วมมือทางวิชาการระหว่างสองสถาบัน ซึ่งถือเป็นก้าวสำคัญในการส่งเสริมความร่วมมือทางวิชาการในระดับนานาชาติ

ณฐชนน และธิรดา ยังได้รับต้อนรับจาก อาจารย์เคท ครั้งพิบูลย์ นักศึกษาระดับปริญญาเอกของมหาวิทยาลัยออสตราวา อาจารย์ประจำมหาวิทยาลัยธรรมศาสตร์ และนักเคลื่อนไหวเพื่อสิทธิ LGBTQ ที่มีบทบาทสำคัญในประเทศไทย ความช่วยเหลือของ อาจารย์เคท ตลอดระยะเวลาในโครงการแลกเปลี่ยนในแง่ของการช่วยเหลือเป็นประโยชน์อย่างยิ่งต่อนักศึกษา
